An article published today in La Stampa, written by Giampiero Carbone, discusses the future of our region and the central proposal of the Oltregiogo Association: the creation of an Interregional Tourist District.
A territory united by history, divided by bureaucracy
The Oltregiogo is a vast area: 65 municipalities that are now administratively fragmented between Piedmont, Liguria, Emilia, and Lombardy, but which share a specific historical and cultural identity, inherited from the Republic of Genoa.rocrazia
As explained in the article by our President Dino Angelini, the goal is to overcome the boundaries drawn on maps in order to highlight the homogeneity of our area. It is not a question of redrawing the regions, but of creating an operational tool that allows these lands to move as a single entity.
Why the Tourist District is strategic
The proposal, presented in Novi Ligure before Regional Councilor Enrico Bussalino and representatives of local administrations, has a practical and economic purpose:
- Simplify promotion: communicate a single brand instead of many small, fragmented entities.
- Attracting resources: a recognized district has more power to raise funds and attract investment.
- Supporting businesses: creating a structured tourism industry that brings tangible benefits to operators in the sector.
The model we are looking at is that of the Northern Piedmont Lakes District: a virtuous example of how cooperation between neighboring territories can multiply opportunities for everyone.
We have already sent a detailed dossier to the Piedmont and Liguria regions to start the recognition process. The work continues, but knowing that the institutions and the national press are attentive to our requests is an excellent sign.
